About the Catalina Island Conservancy - seed bank
The Catalina Island Conservancy manages over 17,000 hectares of Mediterranean-type habitat off the coast of Southern California, USA including many rare and endemic plants and animals. The Conservancy established the native plant nursery and seed conservation facility in 1989 to provide plant and seed material for its conservation and restoration needs on Santa Catalina Island. The nursery grows over 85 species as container stock and houses over 2,300 seed accessions representing 247 species. Projects include rare plant conservation, habitat restoration, erosion control, and native landscaping.
