About the Botanical Garden of the University of Bern
The Botanical Garden of the University of Bern, founded in 1860, is a diverse and colourful oasis in the centre of Bern. The garden contains an enormous diversity of about 5500 different plant species from all over the world. It is a place of knowledge and learning but is also a feast for the senses or simply a place to rest and relax. It showcases the fascinating diversity of plants and communicates their great importance for human wellbeing, whilst at the same time raising awareness of the threats plants face and how to conserve them. The BOGA has a lot to offer in terms of a huge diversity of plants, education, science and culture.
