BGCI Board
BGCI currently has twelve members of the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors support BGCI through fundraising, finance and investment advice, legal advice, and much more.

Professor Stephen
Blackmore
Professor Blackmore was the 15th Regius Keeper of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and was appointed Her Majesty’s Botanist in Scotland in 2010. In 2011 he was appointed a CBE for “services to plant conservation”.

HRH Princess Basma
bint Ali
HRH Princess Basma bint Ali is an advocate of biodiversity conservation and has a strong connection with the environment. She is the Founder of the Royal Botanic Garden of Jordan.

Stuart
Clenaghan
Mr. Clenaghan is a Senior Fellow at the Climate Bonds Initiative and focuses on bonds and forest protection measures. He is also principal at Eco System Services Limited.

Gerard T.
Donnelly
Gerard Donnelly is the President and CEO of The Morton Arboretum and the Chair of BGCI’s International Advisory Council. He led the establishment of ArbNet and the Chicago Region Trees Initiative.

Martin
Gibson
Martin is an experienced small business accountant and advisor with a deep interest in active conservation. He chairs the Finance Committee. He is a trustee of several other charities where he looks for robust financial management and strong governance.

Dr. Charlotte
Grezzo
Dr. Grezzo is a member of Global Sustainable Capital Management Limited’s Investment & Risk Committee and heads their Sustainability work. She is on the Board of Fauna and Flora International and a member of the BBC Sustainability Advisory Group.

Dr. Kathleen
Mackinnon
Dr. Mackinnon is Vice Chair (Biodiversity and Climate Change) of the IUCN/World Commission on Protected Areas. She has worked extensively with international and national conservation NGOs, as well as government agencies in developing countries.

Michael
Murphy
Michael is the Chief Development Officer at The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. He has extensive international experience in advancement, fundraising, marketing, management, strategic planning, and communications.

Sir Ghillean
Prance
Sir Ghillean Prance was Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew from 1988-1999. His life’s work has focused on ensuring global sustainability and management of the environment through increasing our knowledge of the plant kingdom.

Anna
Quenby
Anna was Head of Public Relations and Corporate Operations at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. She is responsible for advice and support to BGCI across all areas of communication.

Maricela
Rodriguez
Maricela is founder and former Director of the Herbarium and Botanical Garden of the Benemérita University of Puebla, Mexico. She served as President of the Mexican Association of Botanic Gardens and as Vice President of the Association of Latin American and Caribbean Botanic Gardens. She is currently Coordinator of Global Conservation Consortium for Oak in Mexico and Central America

Peter
Wyse Jackson
Peter Wyse Jackson is the Director of Missouri Botanical Garden and George Englemann Professor of Botany, Washington University in St. Louis. In 1987, he joined IUCN where he helped to establish the international network organization for botanic gardens that became BGCI.
