News published: 12 August 2025
After careful consideration of various factors to ensure the best possible experience and widest possible engagement for all participants, the Global Conservation Symposium for Dipterocarps 2025 will be postponed until 26-29 November 2025. The symposium will be held at the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yunnan, China.
Travel grants to support the participation of early-career scientists and practitioners in the dipterocarps symposium will be made available through XTBG. A call for applications will be opened soon. Stay tuned!
Running parallel, the Southeast Asia Biodiversity Workshop, organized by the Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, will be held 24-28 November 2025, also at XTBG, including one day during which the two events will overlap, allowing interaction among the participants of the two events. Interested participants are encouraged to attend both events. For more information on the workshop, please contact Sidi Wang or Xiaoyang Yi
Pre-symposium Webinar
Prior to the symposium, we will hold an online webinar to introduce the objectives and organization of the Global Conservation Consortium for Dipterocarps, along with a discussion with leaders of existing Global Conservation Consortia who will share their experience and insight into developing a successful program. This webinar will be held in mid-Oct 2025 (exact dates to be determined), with additional organizational and content support by Botanic Gardens Conservation International.
We understand that this schedule change may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption it may cause. We are committed to making the rescheduled symposium a successful and impactful event. We will keep you updated with all the necessary information as we move forward.
Thank you for your understanding and continued interest in the Global Conservation Symposium for Dipterocarps.
The Organizing Committee gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yunnan Province Science and Technology Department and Hainan Provincial Department of Science and Technology for their sponsorship of Early-Career Travel Grants and other conference expenses. Without their contributions, this event would not have been possible.
