The GlobalTree Portal provides information on the world’s tree species and can be searched on a species, country, or global level. There have been some recent updates to the portal, providing more information to the user.
On the species and country level pages there is now threat information according to the IUCN Red List. There is a visual summary of the threats affecting each species displayed on the species page. On the country page there is an aggregation of threats affecting species native to the country with percentages representing the proportion of native species affected by a particular threat. The threats can be toggled between different levels of the IUCN Red List threat classification scheme.

The GlobalTree Portal includes the Conservation Action Tracker which provides information on conservation actions for tree species. A new feature now added is an aggregation of the Conservation Action Tracker at a country level. There is a display of how many threatened species native to a country have information in the Conservation Action Tracker, and how many threatened species have each of the conservation actions recorded.

There are now tags to easily identify which species occur in Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) and which species have been identified as potential Alliance for Zero Extinction (AZE) trigger species. A list of Key Biodiversity Areas a species occurs in can be downloaded via the link at the bottom of the species page. There is also a tag for species that are included in a Global Conservation Consortia.

BGCI worked with developer Stefan Jänicke on these new developments.
