Botanic Gardens Conservation International is coming together with almost 600 charities to thank supporters who donated through the UK’s biggest match funding campaign, The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge 2019.

Through this year’s Christmas Challenge, BGCI raised over £20,000 to fund to support smaller botanic gardens to adopt sustainable practices in just 7 days. A huge thank you to all that supported BGCI in this year’s Christmas Challenge!

Through BGCI’s Global Botanic Garden Fund, botanic gardens will be able to apply for grants of £1,000 – £2,500 in 2020 to support the implementation of sustainability measures. Gardens can apply for grants to implement activities focused on water saving and recycling, energy saving, recycling and composting, sustainable food, urban greening, and the development of sustainability strategies, education initiatives, and outreach.

The Big Give’s record-breaking campaign, which ran from 3-10 December 2019, generated over £15 million in vital funding for good causes across the country, matching donations pound for pound until the funding pot was empty.
