Botanic gardens hold incredible collections of plant diversity and expertise with the potential for the restoration of extinct plants. In cases where reintroduction isn’t possible, botanic gardens are working to establish meta collections to ensure species survival.

A recent study found that 60% of attempts by botanic gardens to reintroduce species extinct in the wild are successful, which provides an incredible opportunity for the future of restoration efforts. This challenge will raise money to provide funding to botanic gardens work on plants that are extinct in the wild through BGCI’s Global Botanic Garden Fund.
