Last October 23, the Southeast Asia Botanic Gardens (SEABG) Network held a technical talk focusing on the Global Conservation Consortium for Dipterocarps (GCCD).

Dylan Fuller, BGCI’s GCC Manager, gave an overview of the various consortia, followed by a short video presentation spotlighting the GCC for Oak (GCCO). Dr. Wen-Bin Yu from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) then shared the GCCD’s goals, activities, and progress over the last 5 years.

Finally, Dr. Charles Cannon from the Singapore Botanic Gardens closed out the session with a discussion on GCCD structure and membership, as well as an invitation to the upcoming Global Conservation Symposium for Dipterocarps, happening in the following month. Attendees were encouraged to contribute to a pre-symposium survey that would help shape the direction of the symposium and the GCCD as a whole.

The TechTalk was attended by more than 80 participants, majority from Southeast Asia, and provided a window to survey the dipterocarp conservation landscape in the region and beyond.
