The Global Botanic Garden Fund supports plant conservation efforts—particularly in gardens located in regions with high biodiversity—by awarding small grants annually. The fund is available to BGCI Member institutions, with priority given to botanic gardens in developing countries and biodiversity hotspots.

2025 Grant Recipients

In May 2025, BGCI opened 5 different grants each with varying criteria:
• BGCI Member Grants
• Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Grants (MLA)
• ArbNet Partnership Programme Grants (ArbNet)
• Global Seed Conservation Grants (GSC)
• Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve Grants (LLNPP)

We received a total of 175 applications for the Global Botanic Garden Fund. The projects are varied from improving collection management in gardens, to education, to seed collection and banking.

Congratulations to the successful recipients; BGCI and partner organisations will be distributing 55 grants, worth $171,925 to 50 institutions, across 32 different countries.

Funding for the Global Botanic Garden Fund was made possible in 2025 by contributions from:
• ArbNet (The Morton Arboretum)
• Minnesota Landscape Arboretum
• Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve
• The Botanist
• Korea Arboreta and Gardens Institute
• and crowd-sourced funding through the 2024 Holiday Challenge, the BigGive and GBGF Donations.
