Representatives from 27 European Botanic Gardens National and European networks came together on a hybrid meeting on the 30 April 2025 to discuss the roles of botanic gardens in Europe. The meeting was held as a hybrid event with participants joining in person from Catania, Sicily.
In this meeting we welcomed new representatives from Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia, and a change in representation from Norway.
The discussion involved:
- Working towards the publication of the Strategy and Conservation Action Plan for European Botanic Gardens.
- Organisation of the EuroGard10 Conference, taking place in Rome 20205.
- Draft versions of Terms of Reference and Welcome Pack.
- Reporting mechanisims for the Action Plan and links to the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC).
- Demonstration of a new communication facility via PlantSearch to aid material exchange and information exchange between gardens.
- As well as reports and announcement from representatives.
Next EBGC meeting – in person at EuroGard, Rome at the Botanic Garden Sat 20-21 September.
