The next issue of our educational magazine Roots will explore Cultural Heritage in Botanic Gardens. In a botanic education context, cultural heritage encompasses identity, belonging, and the rich diversity of stories that shape how people connect with plants and landscapes. It invites us to use cultural perspectives to deepen our narratives, promote intercultural dialogue, foster mutual respect, and amplify underrepresented voices.
Are you integrating cultural heritage into your programmes? Have you created projects with local communities, highlighted Indigenous knowledge, or celebrated cultural traditions linked to plants? We would love to hear what cultural heritage means in your work.
We are seeking a diverse range of articles for our next issue. Please send a 100-word abstract to Annelies by 30 January 2026.
