Monday 26th March 2018 at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, 11am – 4pm: £40 to BGCI members

This event is relevant to all staff & volunteers working in the sector, not just botanic gardens but parks, woodlands, open countryside – anyone who has plants at the heart of their work. Plants are on the move! Join us for a one day bgen networking event with focus on the scientific background, education and practicalities of dealing with and preventing disease spread. Communicating with staff, visitors and volunteers about the risk of spreading diseases is vitally important. Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh Mycologist, Dr Katherine Hayden and Education colleagues will lead talks and workshops based on their experience of educating people in all aspects of handling disease control. We will consider the tools and good practices, from the UK and other countries, that you can take back to your site to help hold disease at bay! The event will also give you a good opportunity to meet people from botanic gardens, parks and other outdoor sites – a chance to share ideas, discuss concerns and catch up.

Special rate to BGCI members: £40, which includes entry to Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, lunch and refreshments and handouts.
