BGCI sends its deepest condolences to the family of Mrs Kirtida Mekani, BGCI Board member who passed away in Singapore on January 19th. Kirtida was a strong advocate for green cities and environmental sustainability. In her home city of Singapore in 1993, she established and was the founding executive director of the Singapore Environmental Council, and in 2007 she led the Singapore Plant-a Tree Programme in partnership with the National Parks Board and Garden City Fund. She joined BGCI as a trustee in 2021, and BGCI has benefited greatly from her kindness, energy, enthusiasm and skills ever since. She will be sorely missed by BGCI staff and board members alike.
