I have been involved in the field of ecological restoration and conservation horticulture for 15 working primarily on Ile aux Aigrettes and Round Island nature reserve (Mauritius) but also conducting surveys and collecting propagation materials in forested areas all over Mauritius. I have extensive experience in various ex situ and in situ conservation strategies such as propagating plants for habitat restoration and for the recovery of highly threatened species; large scale planting towards forest/habitat restoration; providing aftercare; survivorship monitoring; managing highly invasive alien plants; nursery management, bio-security procedures etc. I occupied various positions throughout these 15 years I worked in the field of ecological restoration and conservation horticulture: nursery volunteer, head horticulturist, conservation biologist, plant programme coordinator, islands restoration senior coordinator and now as the Flora Programme manager. I propagated plants using various techniques fine tuned over the years through personal experience as well as exchanges and training with international partners such as Kew Royal Botanic Gardens and Conservatoire Botanique National de Brest. I have been providing training to new staff, interns and volunteers in seed collection/processing; plant propagation techniques; nursery management; plant care; reintroduction, data collection/management for many years.
