About the Fundacion Sales Xardin Arboretum

Francisco de Sales Covelo, Landscape Architect, Nursery owner bought this land in 1962 and created his house, his studio and his beloved botanical garden.
After his death in 2002, the estate became a Foundation Trust in his name, Fundación Sales, whose main objective is to conserve the garden.
The climatic conditions of the garden, with an annual rainfall of 1600 mm, average temperature of 13,6º C, mild Summers and Winters, with high relative humidity during the whole year and the acid terrain make them suitable for many sub-tropical and tropical species.
The garden has over 850 different plant species.
