About the The Mediterranean Garden Society

Sparoza is an experimental garden on the outskirts of Athens created by Mary Jaqueline Tyrwhitt, who was an early advocate for choosing plants to suit the conditions. Sparoza hosts a unique collection of Greek flora and other dry climate plants. The garden is managed by the Mediterranean Garden Society to demonstrate gardening that is in sympathy with the natural surroundings and our philosophy of waterwise gardening.
