About the Blickling Hall

An 18th-century landscape park surrounding the Jacobean house, offering colour and variety throughout the year, from spring bulbs, magnolias, azaleas, rhododendrons and herbaceous flower parterre to magnificent autumn colour. Victorian sunken garden, remodelled in the 1930s by Norah Lindsay, consisting of four colourful herbaceous beds and yew topiary around a 17th-century fountain. A path leads from the parterre to a Doric temple, commissioned by the 1st Earl of Buckinghamshire, probably in the 1730s. The late 18th-century orangery, on the border of the park and garden, houses camellias and ferns. Formal wilderness garden with radial walks lined by avenues of Turkey oak, lime and beech. The northern wilderness area hides a charming secret garden with summer-house, sundial and scented plants. Beyond the garden lies the wooded 18th-century landscape park planted with oak, beech and sweet chestnuts and featuring a long man-made lake, offering of attractive lakeside and parkland walks.
