About the Botanical Garden Galați

The Botanical Garden, part of the Natural Sciences Museum Complex ”Răsvan Angheluta” Galați was established in 1990, with the help of local municipality. Covering an area of 18 hectares close to the Danube River, the living heritage of the botanical garden accounts for over 80.000 specimens for a total of more than 1,350 taxa.
The plant collection is represented by both coniferous and deciduous trees, shrubs and vines, hardy perennials or tropical plants. After outlining the basic structure of vegetation, which is mandatory for creating the necessary microclimate for the development of phytodiversity, scientific important taxa were introduced and monitored (in accordance with the European databases and National Red lists).
