About the Waimea Valley Arboretum and Botanical Garden
Waimea Arboretum and Botanical Garden contains 36 major botanical collections situated in a narrow valley extending from sea level to 1,000 feet. The plant collections focus on native Hawaiian plants, Polynesian introductions, and plants of island ecosystems. The Arboretum also emphasizes the cultural and ecological resources of Waimea Valley.
The Waimea Arboretum and Botanical Garden offers visitors an opportunity to walk along gentle paths, hike old stream trails, share a picnic or simply revel in the simple joys of nature. Plant enthusiasts, bird lovers, history buffs, and anyone who longs for a true Hawaiian island experience will find what they seek in the Waimea Valley. The Center also provides a living laboratory for local schools as well as a vital research site for citizen scientists.
Waimea Arboretum and Botanical Garden works to protect and enhance Waimea Valley's cultural, botanical, and ecological resources and interpret those resources through quality educational programs.
The garden is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is closed all day on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Fees for admission are $25.00 for adults, $18.00 for seniors, and $14.00 for children. Military and Kama'aina rates are $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for kupuna, and $6.00 for keiki.
