About the Arboretum du vallon de l'Aubonne

The Arboretum in the valley of the River Aubonne in the Canton of Vaud is ideally situated above the lake, between Lausanne and Geneva. Founded in 1968 and developed by nature lovers, it covers a perimeter of about 200 hectares of meadows and forests.
Whether your interest be scientific, educational or simply the desire contemplate the magnificent species which evolve according to the seasons, nine wellmarked paths have been created to facilitate your discovery of the diversity of the forests and their special collections. These paths enable you to literally dive into the majestic universe of trees and discover a pallet of more than 3000 species and varieties of shrubs and trees originating from various temperate regions of the globe.
You may get acquainted with this fascinating universe simply by following the meanders of the River Aubonne.
Trees do not only supply extraordinary quantities of renewable raw material and varied food resources, they also offer therapeutic virtues and present a thousand-year-old longevity. Come and discover this multi-faceted valley, its lake, its numerous ponds, its vegetation and its peace and quiet. Welcome to all nature and tree enthusiasts wishing to visit the Arboretum. The Arboretum is an ideal place to observe the rhythm of the seasons, each bringing their own lighting according to nature’s cycle: the blooming of magnolias and Japanese cherry trees in the spring, the shimmering coloration of the maple foliage in autumn and even the silhouettes of trees in winter.
