Conserving North America's Threatened Plants

In 2010, an ex situ survey of North America's threatened plants was undertaken in a joint project between BGCI U.S., the United States Botanic Garden, and the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, with additional funding provided by the Wallace Genetic Foundation. For this assessment, a comprehensive list of North America's threatened plant life was compiled and then compared to BGCI's PlantSearch database. In 2014, BGCI US and the United States Botanic Garden completed a Progress report on Target 8 of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation in the United States (1.5MB). Thanks to the 241 U.S. gardens, seed banks, and collections that contributed species lists to PlantSearch for this assessment.
