Orchid Horticultural Curator - Atlanta Botanical Garden
The Atlanta Botanical Garden has an immediate opening for Orchid Horticultural Curator.
This is predominantly a hands-on, detail-oriented position requiring: interaction with visitors; planting; watering; pruning; mulching; deadheading; pruning; mixing soil; repotting; plant propagation; recognition of plant nutrition deficiencies; recognition of pest infestation and damage; transplantation; removal of plants; and other horticultural activities.
Responsibilities will focus on maintaining collections and displays to the highest horticultural standards. ABG has one of the largest collections of species orchids in the U. S., housed predominantly in the Fuqua Orchid Center, and specializes in Euglossine bee pollinated orchids, Paphiopedilum, Phalaenopsis and high elevation orchids. Work will take place in areas which come under the responsibility of the Fuqua Orchid Center Manager, including but not limited to the Orchid Display House, Tropical High Elevation House, Orchid Atrium, and backup greenhouses.
