Botanic garden world will unite at 5GBGC / 6BGANZ Congress

Over 200 registrations have been received from across the globe for the 5th BGCI / 6th BGANZ joint conference to be held in Dunedin, New Zealand in October 2013.
With attendees from Australia to Brazil, Nigeria to China and United Kingdom to USA all continents on the world map are covered. (See list below)
BGCI / BGANZ Congresses are always special occasions and with representatives from over 30 countries the latest edition will be no different.
The 5th Global Botanic Gardens Congress and the 6th Biennial Botanic Gardens Australia & New Zealand Congress, hosted by the Dunedin Botanic Garden in New Zealand, will include a wide-ranging programme of plenary keynote addresses, symposia and workshops that will cover the challenges and achievements of botanic gardens and partner organisations around the world.
There will be a significant depth of discussion and range of topics to engage all attending, from sustainability and climate change, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and plant collections management, to community well-being, social relevance, industry innovation and education.
The following are thematic areas being developed for the Congress:
- Success globally – progress and achievements in plant conservation from around the world
- Beyond the garden walls - Social engagement – involving our communities; using our skills to restore damaged habitats; engaging in the policy debate.
- Horticultural changes – are we able to meet the challenges and opportunities facing botanic gardens
- Science and innovation – using our resources to develop new solutions in a changing world.
