Calling all PlantSearch users
11 December 2012
BGCI is planning critical enhancements to our PlantSearch database in 2013. PlantSearch is the only online global database of living collections curated by gardens and it currently contains over a million records of plant species maintained ex situ.
Since 2009, BGCI has worked to build our PlantSearch and GardenSearch databases to support plant conservation and the development of an International Sentinel Plant Network to help predict and prevent new plant pests and disease globally.
As a result, GardenSearch can be used to identify specific expertise and resources at gardens worldwide (e.g., it now identifies 51 gardens with research programs on invasive species biology and control in the United States), and PlantSearch can locate where specific species are curated in collections worldwide (e.g., it now identifies nearly 3,000 records of Ash trees (Fraxinus spp.) maintained at botanic gardens in 38 countries worldwide).
If you are a user of PlantSearch, we would be most grateful if you could spare five minutes to fill out this 10-question survey to help BGCI better align our efforts with your needs.
The survey can be accessed by clicking here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BGCIPlantSearch.
Thank you in advance for your input.
