China Comes to Scotland with Spring Lantern Festival

Spring Lantern FestivalSpirit is an entrancing celebration of the magical form of lanterns and the beauty of Chinese plants.

As you journey through the Glasshouses you will see reflections of the long-standing relationship between the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and China; will be drawn in by the botanical riches of the Glasshouses and find yourself immersed in the sounds and traditions of the ancient nation of China.

Produced in association with NVA, Scotland's leading environmental arts organisation, renowned for its breathtaking spectacles of light, such as the illumination of the Storr on the Isle of Skye; multicultural collaborations including the Hidden Gardens in Glasgow and recently Half Life, an exploration of ancient Scotland through light and theatre. The opportunity to combine NVA's aesthetic with the architecture of the Grade l Listed Glasshouses promises a visual feast of unforgettable proportions.

Spirit launches China Now in Scotland, a captivating year-long showcase of Chinese culture and dynamic exploration of ancient and modern links between the two countries. Spirit has been created by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh with the support of the Scottish Government and in collaboration with NVA. This event is one of over hundred taking place nationwide under the China Now in Scotland umbrella.
