Peter Wyse Jackson confirmed as Chair of the Global Partnership for Plant Conservation

At the recent meeting of the Global Partnership for Plant Conservation, Peter Wyse Jackson, Director of the National Botanic Gardens, Ireland was confirmed as the Chair of the Global Partnership for Plant Conservation. At the same time, it was agreed that BGCI would continue to provide the Secretariat to the Partnership. The meeting, which was hosted by the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Ireland, and supported by BGCI, through the Investing in Nature partnership, was the largest international meeting ever held at the National Botanic Gardens and included 120 participants from 37 countries worldwide. A wide range of national and international organisations were represented at the conference which covered all aspects of conservation and sustainable use of plant resources. Dr Peter Wyse Jackson was elected as Chairman of the Global Partnership for Plant Conservation for a term of three years until the next conference is held in 2008. |
