During different lectures (starting at 11.00 a.m.) you will be informed about the negative influence of human activities to living fossils like the Cycads, South East Asian Orchids or the changing eco-system of the dissapearing Aralsea in Central Asia.

The speakers in the morning (Prof. dr. S.-W. Breckle, University of Bielefeld and Dr. J. Vermeulen, National Herbarium of the Netherlands, Universiteit Leiden branch), will give their talks in English, the talks in the afternoon (dr. I. Van Waveren, Naturalis, and A. Vogel, Hortus botanicus Leiden) will be in Dutch.
