Al Ain Zoo invites Community to ‘Walk for Wildlife’

In celebration of the 15th National Environment Day on February 4, 2012, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, Al Ain Zoo is organizing a series of initiatives and events to raise awareness for local wildlife and ways to preserve the desert life in the country.
Commenting on this integral national occasion, Muna AlDhaheri, Manager Education Centre at Al Ain Zoo, said:
“The 15th National Environment Day ‘Living Desert’ is an exceptional initiative to educate people and increase their awareness of protecting the country’s natural environment. Al Ain Zoo is a great place to celebrate this day as it provides a unique platform for all ages to learn more about how we can all play our part in preserving the wildlife of the UAE. We encourage all visitors to participate in our activities and hope our zoo can be an inspiration for making a positive impact in our community and beyond.”
Al Ain Zoo’s “Walk for Wildlife” is one of the key highlights of the 15th National Environment Day 2012. Visitors are invited to participate in a two-kilometre walk around the zoo to show their support for this important awareness campaign. Participants will be provided with t-shirts and caps, in addition to other prizes as a token for their great achievement. Visitors who would like to participate in the ‘Walk for Wildlife’ on February 4 are requested to register via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for registration is January 29.
Other educational initiatives around this day include a train tour where Al Ain Zoo employees will be providing exciting information about desert wildlife in addition to fun educational presentations that will take place in front of various animal exhibits. The timings for all educational activities will be displayed at the zoo’s front gate, where visitors can also pick up a unique “Zoo Passport” which includes quizzes and environmentally themed questions to answer as they explore the park for a chance to win prizes.For more information please visit www.alainzoo.ae.
