June 2011: The fifth issue of the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (CBD) newsletter for civil society, "Square Brackets" has been made available online. The newsletter draws content and opinion from individuals, organizations and members of civil society, aiming to provide information on issues of importance to the CBD, and on views and actions being undertaken by civil society organizations.

This issue includes messages from the CBD Executive Secretary Ahmed Djoghlaf and the Board of the CBD Alliance, as well as articles on: customary sustainable use; green economy and innovative financial mechanisms; restoring agricultural biodiversity; forest protection in Sweden; a paradigm shift from implementation; and biofuels.
