Hundreds of young people across the US participated in the 2010/2011 Fairchild Challenge/BGCI Global Option, to research the importance of plant diversity and create a design embodying Target 14 of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation  (GSPC).  The students also had to come up with a tagline or catchphrase that would capture young people's imagination about the importance of plants and why we must conserve them.
