Two botanists recognised as Distinguished Economic Botanists by the Society of Economic Botany

Two eminent botanists have been awarded the prize of Distinguished Economic Botanist by the Society for Economic Botany (SEB). Drs. Edelmira Linares and Robert Bye were awarded the distintcion on 10th June in Jalapa, Veracruz, Mexico at the Society's 51st Annual Meeting. Since it was established in 1959 the Society has granted the award annually to people who have excelled in the fields of education and investigation in economic botany. The SEB was established in 1959 to foster and encourage scientific research, education, and related activities on the past, present, and future uses of plants, and the relationship between plants and people, and to make the results of such research available to the scientific community and the general public through meetings and publications.
