Horticultural vacancies at the Eden Project

Mediterranean Biome, Skilled Horticulturist
Full time, permanent position
£15,996 to £17,136 (per annum)

We are looking for an experienced Mediterranean horticulturist to join our team responsible for maintaining and developing the plant displays and exhibits in the Mediterranean Biome. You will be expected to work to very high standards and have a good eye for detail.  An all-round knowledge of Mediterranean horticultural skills will be necessary as well as the ability to develop a specialists understanding for specific areas of responsibility.

Candidates ideally should have 3 years relevant experience in Mediterranean horticulture, Pa1 and Pa6 qualifications and a minimum of a Diploma in Horticulture. You will need to be a team player and be highly motivated and enthusiastic with good communications skills. Knowledge of Mediterranean Crops and/or Mediterranean fruits would be particularly advantageous. 

Display Horticulturist, Displays Team
3 days per week, £8,634 (pa)
Permanent position

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative horticulturalist to join our displays team for 3 days a week (approximately 24 hours a week). You will be responsible for installing and maintaining plant displays and exhibits on and off site.

You will work to a good horticulture standard and have a good eye for detail. All round knowledge of horticulture with the ability to develop new skills is essential. As part of the Temporary Displays Team you will work closely with teams across the Eden Project site.
Suitable candidates must have a proven creative flair and horticulture NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent). Plant care knowledge, PA1 and PA6 would also be advantageous.

Plant Label Lead
3 days per week, £12,216 (pa)
Permanent position

We are looking for someone to manage and co-ordinate plant display labels onsite working across the horticultural team and with the Interpretation team.   In order to deliver durable, appropriate, accessible signage you will be practical with a creative flair and you will demonstrate excellent communication skills.
You’ll also need to keep accurate and up to date records of the style, location and content of the labels using the plant label database.  Part of role will involve exploring new ways (hardware, printed and handwritten text) to deliver accessible plant labels and content, allowing full input from the Horticultural and Interpretation team members.
It is very important that this role is focused on delivery whilst ensuring team involvement and ownership. Ideally you will have good plant knowledge as well as written skills. You will need to have good IT skills too including database and label printing experience. As well as sound horticultural experience, you will also have a recent working knowledge of Creative Suite Software (InDesign & Photoshop).
This unique role requires an individual with an equal need to have good plant knowledge and graphics experience! We realise that might be a rarity so if you are a graphics whizz with a passion for plants and willingness to be put through some intense plant nomenclature training then we’d really like to hear from you.  Likewise if you are a horticulturist with a passion for graphics and a willingness to be put through some intense graphics training we’d like to hear from you too.
