Head of Collections and Curator at The Morton arboretum, United States of America.
Position Summary: Curate a diverse and well-documented living collection of the temperate world. Develop new collections and renovate existing ones as guided by the Collections Policy and Collections Master Plan. Lead the systematic evaluation and nomenclatural accuracy of the plants in these Collections. Manage supervisory personnel involved with the living collections care and plant records.
Qualifications: M.S. in botany or related field with 5 years of practical experience in managing and caring for a living collection of woody plants. Thorough working knowledge of modern curatorial standards and the literature of spontaneous and cultivated woody plants. Ability to identify major plant diseases and insect pests. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Gmail and other Google applications beneficial. Knowledge of or willingness and ability to learn to use GIS (Geographic Information System) and GPS (Global Positioning System) technologies.
Success Factors: Must possess an enthusiastic interest in plants. Ability to demonstrate a creative approach to collection, interpretation, and use. Good organization and observation skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability and interest in working with people. Interest in national and international collaborations. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal are essential.

- Physical Demands: Requires some physical activity; lifting and carrying (1-50 lbs.), bending, climbing (2-15 feet), pushing and pulling.
- Work Environment: Work is performed in a combined indoor (60%) and outdoor (40%) setting. Involves a significant amount of walking and occasional travel by auto and airplane, including international travel.
- Equipment: General office equipment, pick-up truck, pruning saw, pruning shears, shovel.
