BIAZA Plant Working Group Conference - Postponed
10-12 October, 2012
The 21st century seems to be being defined by the three challenges of population growth, unsustainable natural resource use and climate change. This aggregate of ‘global change’ must be reflected somehow in the 21st century living collection if it is to remain relevant to its audience and have a role to play that is valued by wider society. The botanic and zoological garden has become more than a good day out but now increasingly is seen as an ark, a place for conservation education, conservation advocacy, a place for supporting in-situ conservation and to start to coordinate habitat restoration.
This 3-day conference will focus in on the following key topics:
• Ecological Curation
• Aligning Conservation between living collections
• Ethical management and use of living collection
