Putting Plant Diversity on the Policy Agenda

  • BGCI was a leading player in the development and adoption of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation, the targets of which have now been fully integrated into the programmes of work of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
  • BGCI currently works with the CITES secretariat to address issues related to the CITES listing of plants under threat through unsustainable levels of harvesting in the wild.

CITES and Medicinal Plants Study: A Summary of Findings

BGCI is working to link plant conservation with improvements in human well-being through a new project for threatened medicinal species to help ensure on-going access to vital plant resources. Medicinal plant displays are popular features in gardens, who also contribute research and other services.

CITES - The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora
