New President of the RLB 2007 - 2010

The Red Latinoamericana de Botanica has appointed Dr. Javier A. Simonetti to the position of President of the RLB for the period 2007 - 2010. For more than 5 years, Dr. Simonetti has been a Scientific Committee member of the RLB, serving as Regional Coordinator for the South American Southern Cone for the last three years.

Dr. Simonetti is an alumnus of Universidad de Chile and received a PhD from University of Washington. He is Professor at Universidad de Chile with more than 20 years of experience in research and teaching. His research focuses on the effects of subsistence and resource use by human populations on the structure and dynamics of Latin America's biological diversity, especially plant-animal interactions.
