Chairmanship and SecretariatFurther to the invitation in Decision VII/10, BGCI agreed to continue to support the Partnership, by providing its Interim Chair and Secretariat, in close cooperation with the GSPC Programme Officer of the CBD Secretariat. At the 1st General Meeting of the Partnership held on 25th October, 2005, Dr Peter Wyse Jackson was elected as Chair of the Partnership until its next General Meeting. BGCI was invited and agreed to continue to provide the GPPC Secretariat. Any changes to the arrangements for the Partnership will be agreed by the Partners and adopted at its General Meetings. This will include the appointment of a Chair and selection or designation of a Secretariat. One or more vice-chairs may also be appointed from time to time. The term of office of the Chair and vice-chairs will be from one General Meeting to the next (see paragraph 28). At the first General Meeting (25th October, 2005) the members proposed that an Advisory Group drawn from the GPPC membership be constituted to assist and advise the Chair on on-going issues, operations and functions of the partnership. The basis for selecting this Advisory Group and its terms of reference, as well as those of any Vice-Chairs of the partnership, will be developed in a paper prepared by the Chair and agreed amongst the partnership. |
