The authors document seed dispersal by non-native birds in dry forest remnants in Hawaii and show that these introduced birds almost exclusively disperse fruits of non-native but not native tree species. Luskin M S 2010. Flying Foxes Prefer to Forage in Farmland in a Tropical Dry Forest Landscape Mosaic in Fiji. Biotropica 42(2): 246–250. Habitat choice and feeding behavior of the Pacific flying fox, Pteropus tonganus, were investigated across 16 islands of the Yasawa archipelago, Fiji. Flying foxes forage extensively on fruit trees such as breadfruit, mango, or papaya on farmland while roosting was restricted to native forest remnants.
The authors present an expert opinion based assessment method for the prioritisation of island species conservation based on (i) protection priority, including ecological value, singularity, public institutions’ management responsibilities and social value; and (ii) management feasibility, including threats knowledge and control feasibility, external socio-economical support for management and biological recovery potential. Based on vascular plant, bryophyte and animal data from Macaronesia.

Phelsuma is a journal focused on the natural history of the Seychelles and the Western Indian Ocean with a main interest in zoology. However, it also includes regularly articles on plant conservation and taxonomy and general conservation. The most recent issue includes for instance an article on the "The timing of arrival of humans and their commensal animals on Western Indian Ocean oceanic islands" by Anthony Cheke. Samways MJ, PM Hitchins, O Bourquin, J Henwood 2010. Restoration of a tropical island: Cousine Island, Seychelles. Biodiversity and Conservation 19:425–434. Samways et al. summarize the history of the restoration of a small 27 ha offshore island, Cousine where alien mammals were erradicated, native vegetation is being restored, and rare native birds released.
