RBG Victoria becomes BGCI Patron Member

22 November 2016

BGCI is delighted to welcome the Royal Botanic Gardens, Victoria as a Patron Member. As a Patron, the Royal Botanic Gardens joins a growing number of the world's largest and most influential botanic gardens and will play a key role in guiding BGCI's future programme.

The Royal Botanic Gardens incorporates two outstanding botanic gardens, a heritage-listed landscape in Melbourne and a contemporary native garden set within a natural bushland reserve at Cranbourne. It is also home to the State Botanical Collection (including 1.5 million preserved plants, algae and fungi) and a regional hub for plant knowledge, with internationally recognized biodiversity, conservation and urban ecology research programs.

The Melbourne Gardens offer engaging tours including an Aboriginal Heritage Walk, a Garden Explorer tour, a Garden Discovery Walk and punting on the Ornamental lake.

The Cranbourne Gardens offer a uniquely Australian experience, with a bold contemporary landscape and inspiring and immersive displays of Australian flora, art and architecture. The Garden is the winner of International Landscape Awards.
