BGCI exhibits at 2005 Hong Kong Flower Show
BGCI exhibited at the 2005 Hong Kong Flower Show for the third year. The 2005 Hong Kong Flower Show is a 10 day event which was held on 11th-20th March, 2005. More than 550,000 people visited the show last year. Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) this year's theme was "whisper of spring" and the rhododendron was the show's theme flower. Boasting 330,000 flowers, the show was held at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay, in the heart of Hong Kong and transformed the bustling city landscape into a lush, green and colourful oasis. The title of BGCI's booth was "Plant diversity gives us delicious dishes" and featured stories, pictures, plants and seeds of common herbs used in Chinese cooking. Similarly to last year, a children's activity desk in the BGCI booth was set up by HSBC staff on the weekends during the show. Up to 40 HBSC volunteers helped children sow seeds of coriander, spring onion and bulbs of garlic to take home and watch grow. Colourful leaflets about herbs and growing instructions produced by the volunteers were accompanied the pots of herb. The activity was made possible by Earthwatch Community Project funding applied by HSBC staff upon their return from their Earthwatch expeditions.
