The evening promises to be very enjoyable, with over 600 beautiful artworks on display and available for sale, embracing a wide variety of styles and techniques.

It will take place on 22nd April 2009

from 6.30pm to 8.30pm

at Central Hall, Westminster, London, SW1H 9NH

and will be opened by Dan Pearson, landscape and garden designer

Botanical art has long been incredibly important to the scientific work of botanic gardens. The illustration must portray a plant with such accuracy and detail that it can be distinguished from another species. The paintings are also exquisitely beautiful in their own right and what was once purely scientific has developed into a vibrant art form. We are working with The Society of Botanical Artists so that plants - so many of them unpainted as yet - can continue to provide inspiration for generations to come.
