About the The Sir Harold Hillier Gardens

One of the largest collections of hardy trees and shrubs in the world. 180 acres with a selection of different areas showing a wide range of growing conditions. A world class winter garden, a bog and peat garden, a pond area with marginal plants, a vast arboretum, heather gardens and dwarf conifer beds, woodlands and meadows. Some of our large plant collections include Camellias, Rhododendrons, Magnolias. We have, probably, the worlds longest, double herbaceous borders showing an incredible range of perennials, many new to cultivation. We are also holders of 12 National Plant Collections including Qaks (Quercus and Lithocarpus), Witch hazels (Hamamelis) and Cornus. We also have the National Collection of Hillier Plants (those raised and named by Hillier nurseries).
