About the Rowallane Garden

Rowallane is a very beautiful and important garden, often described as a plantsman's garden because of its wonderful collection of plants. It was originally laid out in the mid-19th century, but there were major improvements to the plant collection during the 20th century. All types of gardening are represented here: formal walled and rock gardens, semi-natural and natural landscapes, including managed grassland with large numbers of wild flowers. There is also a unique collection of conifers and an outstanding collection of acid-loving plants.
