About the Plas Newydd

A parkland garden with formal terraces, shrub beds and trees, based on a Humphry Repton design and developed by the present Marquess of Anglesey since the 1950s and by the National Trust since 1976. In spring the azaleas and magnolias, wild rhododendron garden and Australasian arboretum with shrub understorey are complemented by local wild flowers. Summer-flowering shrubs include escallonia, olearia and hoheria. The Terrace Garden features hot and cool borders in July and August, with pools and fountains. Hydrangeas, acers and azaleas provide good autumn colour. The garden offers marine and woodland walks, with spectacular views of Snowdonia.
