About the Buckland Abbey

An interesting herb garden, inspired by Vita Sackville-West, with a series of ilex-edged beds, filled with herbs and medicinal plants. On the north-east side of the Abbey where once stood an ancient row of yew trees, is a newly-created Elizabethan-style garden with topiary and old varieties of fruit trees. Standing on the south side of the Abbey are two magnificent large evergreen magnolias, M. grandiflora and M. delavayi, which flower right through until the first frosts. Shrubs and herbaceous borders.
