About the Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden
Chenshan Botanical Garden, Shanghai is a comprehensive botanical garden with strong scientific content and beautiful garden landscapes, integrating scientific research, popularization of science, landscape and leisure, co-constructed by Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the State Forestry Administration with the approval of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and is also a major social welfare ecological construction project decided by Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, listed in the Outline of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan of Shanghai for National Economic and Social Development. Located in Songjiang District, with an area of 207 hectares (2,070,000 m2), Chenshan Botanical Garden was officially started in March 2007; with the support and concern of all parties, after more than 3 years of construction, it was open to the public as a trial on April 26, 2010; and with the completion of the Conservatory, the Garden was fully open on January 23, 2011.
