About the Botanic Gardens at Kona Kai, The

The Botanic Gardens at Kona Kai Resort endeavors to improve people’s appreciation of plants and understanding of the role plants have played in the development of human life, from the beginning of recorded time through tomorrow.

Our Garden mission: Education - Transformation - Restoration . As an ethnobotanic garden,The Botanic Gardens at Kona Kai endeavors to enhance one's understanding of the significant role plants play in our everyday lives.

We believe a successful 21st Century world is one in which people have accepted "Plants as Partners™"

Our exclusive TYUP™, a 90 minute tour, "Transforming Your Understanding of Plants," opens visitor's eyes up to understanding "Why Plants Matter." At The Botanic Gardens at Kona Kai Resort, we provide educational courses, lectures, publications, visitor programs on plant life, a unique botanic art exhibition gallery celebrating plant life, self-guided and by-appointment TYUP™ tours, as well as lodging for visiting scientists and garden visitors.

To our knowledge, The Botanic Gardens at Kona Kai Resort is the only botanic garden in the world in which a layperson can stay overnight. In addition, we are one of only two frost-free botanic gardens in the continental United States.
