The Elisabeth Carey Miller Botanical Garden was originally the home garden of Elisabeth Miller (1914 to 1994). In 1994 it became a trust-administered botanical garden with visitation limited and by appointment only. The Miller Garden continues to be a dynamic and rich plant collection that forms the basis for many horticultural educational programs. Mrs. Miller's enjoyed native and exotic species, with special interests in woody plants, including Rhododendron, Quercus and Acer. She also collected ferns, epimediums and alpine plants.

  • Special Collections:This collection has been developed since 1949, with a strong interest in ornamentals suitable for the coastal Pacific Northwest of the United States. The framework for the collection is a canopy of native Pseudotsuga menziesii, Tsuga heterophylla and Thuja plicata. This is heavily underplanted with such natives as Blechnum spicant, Polystichum munitum, Vaccinium ovatum, V. ovalifolium and Mahonia nervosa. Among these is a rich collection on exotic species, with many representatives from Asia.
