Change of dates for International Diploma Course in Botanic Garden Education

20 April 2010

BGCI and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew run the highly successful International Diploma Course in Botanic Garden Education. The course equips participants with the education skills and strategies to get their message across effectively to varied audiences.  The course was due to run this September and October, however the dates have had to be changed.   The course will run from 4th July to 5th August 2011.

The reason for the change is due to the tightening up of UK visa entry requirements.  All students coming to the UK to study on a course require a student visa.  These visas are only granted to students who attend institutions that are on an accredited list of educational providers.  Currently these include universities and other traditional educational institutions.  As a consequence, Kew now has to apply for accreditation as a provider of higher education courses in order to meet these new visa requirements.  The accreditation will enable Kew to support potential course participants in obtaining the correct visa.  However, it is unlikely that Kew will be accredited in time for this year's course.
